National Medicare Education Week is September 15-21--which is one month before open enrollment. If you have questions and need someone to help fill in the blanks be sure to attend this program. This program is a free of charge; we ask that you register so we have enough seats.

Award-winning author and Streator native Jeffrey K. Walker will speak about WWI, its lasting impact, and his path to becoming an author who wanted to write about this fascinating period in our history. Mr. Walker will be signing books available for purchase. Bring your questions and your friends.

We will be continuing our miniature fairy garden project this fall. If you missed out this summer be sure to sign up for this creative program. This is a FREE event and you get to keep your project. No library card is required. We request registration so we can have enough supplies for everyone!

If you enjoy knitting or crocheting visit this warm, friendly group of women who meet twice a month on the first and third Monday of the month. Bring your own project and supplies, we provide the relaxing, well lit room. It is a fun time to see what everyone’s projects!

Life Size Clue!: Family

This special after hours event invites High School students and adults to enjoy an interactive, live-action Murder Mystery Clue Game. This 105 year old library will be your game board and you will be challenged to find the murderer before you are next. Please make sure that you register, it will be well worth your time.
Family Laser Tag
Friday, November 9 at 6:00pm
Do not miss out on the chance to play in the library after hours! We will be having our first family laser tag event. If you are a Sci-Fi fan or just like are just looking for a fun night out join us for this free event. Be sure to register, there is limited “space”!
Library Card Sign-up Month

If you know someone who does not have a library card invite them to join you on your next visit!
We would like everyone in the community to know what we have to offer. Be sure to tell them to visit us on the web at www.streatorpubiclibrary.org for details about how to get a library card, new material, events, and services available. Though we process new cards all year we hope to see as many of you as possible.
New cards are free to City of Streator Residents. There is a $36 family fee for non-residents. We have student cards for $12 for non-residents if you only want your student to have a card. Be sure to bring in two pieces of official mail (ie. bills, bank statements, insurance statements, mortgage or lease contacts) and a photo ID to process your card.
Banned Books Week

Be sure to stop by to check out our banned book display. We will have a display of books that will be available to check out. We thank our community for using the library and checking out all of our books!
Family Read Night Pajama Party
Thursday, November 15
Join us for this special Pajama Party story time event. We will be reading books and sharing favorite bed time stories. Be sure to wear your pajamas so you can relax and have a good time! Cookies and milk will be served.
Get Caught Reading!
November 12 to November 17
Help us celebrate Family Read Night by reading in the library. We will be giving out raffle tickets the week of November 12 to November 17 for anyone who we catch reading in the library! We would like to take pictures to post on Facebook, if you are interested tell staff and they will be sure to take and post your picture! We will be raffling off Amazon gift cards, prize winners will be notified by phone.
