New for teens! Facebook page
Teens now have their own Facebook page. This is a place where we can make plans for teen events at the library. To "Like" our new page click the black Facebook icon in the side bar.
Be sure to check out our new OCLC link! If there is material that you is not available in our library or in the PrairieCat system we can request it through OCLC. Any material that can be sent from us within the state of Illinois will be free of charge. If the material is out of state you will be required to pay the loaning library's fee if you would like the material sent to our library. All material checks out for a two week period and our standard late fees apply.
Please note that the library's wireless now requires a password. Please enter - Library! into your device to connect to our network. You should only need to enter the password one time, our system should recognize your device when you visit again.
Renovation Project Contribution Request
The library is currently making plans to restore the children's department. This historic room is in need of new shelves that are children friendly. The shelves are too high for children to access all the material. In the best interest of all the children of Streator, who visit the library, we would like the department to be accessible to everyone.
The approximate cost for the replace all the free standing shelving will be $18,000. At this time we are accepting donations to help us achieve our goal of reviving this wonderful room. The room will become a child friendly space where every child can browse the shelves for the new books we are currently adding to the collection.
Help us update this room so that the children visiting the library can enjoy the entire collection. Every donation will make a difference, every donation will count toward reaching our goal.
